Melissa and I decided to get pizza at Il Vicino in Nob Hill and walked there from campus. Among the many pigeons and starlings, we noticed a Common Nighthawk (Bernalillo bird #147) flying overhead. These birds are often seen over cities in the Went and Midwest but seem to be declining in the Northeast. Nighthawks have a characteristic bouncy flight with quick flapping and they hold their wings over their bodies in a V. Keep and eye out for these cool birds!
